Daughter's Plea To Goldthorpe Hit And Run Driver

The daughter of a 56-year-old man who died after he was hit by a car while he was lying in the road in South Yorkshire makes an emotional plea for information.

The driver of the unknown vehicle didn't stop following the collision on Cooperative Street in Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire, at 8.25pm last night.

A police spokeswoman said the local man was "believed to have been lying in the carriageway" before it happened.

The vehicle, which failed to stop, was seen to turn off Cooperative Street into Doncaster Road.

Peter Topping's 29 year old daughter said: "I am anxious to find out what happened to my dad, Peter Topping. He was a lovely man and I miss him terribly.

"If anyone knows anything about how he died, I'd urge you to contact the police."
