Portsmouth police are looking for three men, who attacked a pregnant woman on her doorstep while she was holding her one-year-old.

The eight and a half month pregnant victim, who's 33, answered a knock at the door sometime between 2.30 and 2.50pm on Friday 6 February at an address in Agincourt Road.

Three men were stood there. They asked for a man who used had previously lived at the address claiming he owed them money. The woman has no connection with the man they wanted and does not know him. She explained this to them but one of the men then punched her in the face causing injuries that then bled over her child.

The phone line to the property was later discovered to have been cut.

The men left in a small dark green two door car. All three were white and in their 30s. The man who punched her was stocky with strawberry blonde hair. He wore a beige pullover with duffle buttons and had a southern accent.

The woman was shocked and distressed by the attack. It left her with a badly bruised and bleeding nose and other injuries to her face. She was treated by ambulance staff.

Detective Constable Peter Bugden said:

“This was a despicable and cowardly attack on a heavily pregnant young mum. It would have been obvious to the men she was expecting and also obvious she had a young child in her arms.

“We are keen to find the three men as soon as possible especially the  attacker. I’d like to hear from anyone who has any information about this assault or who saw the car or anything suspicious in Agincourt Road at around the time the attack happened.”

Anyone with information should call Fratton CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
