Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a man who’s both partially blind and deaf was attacked by a group of three men who were with a woman at a bus stop in Southampton.
It happened in Shirley Road. The 46-year-old was walking past the bus stop in the direction of the Pig and Whistle Pub on his way home between 11.45pm and midnight on Tuesday March 22 when he was suddenly hit.
He can’t see out of one of his eyes and the blow came from that direction. He was then punched again to the face and fell to the ground. One of the men lunged at him again but one of the others pulled him off and they all quickly went.
The victim was left with a split lip that needed stitched and bruising. He has been unable to describe those who assaulted him in any detail other than they were all white because of his condition.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident or who saw the people at the bus stop or hurrying from the scene.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call PC Christopher Collins at Shirley Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
