Biker Dies In A303 Crash Near Winchester

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 at Micheldever near Winchester.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 at Micheldever near Winchester. 

The crash happened close to the M3 junction shortly after 8.20pm this evening and involved a grey Suzuki GSX motorcycle. 

The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man from Basingstoke, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Both the A303 eastbound and westbound carriageways were closed between Micheldever and Popham until 2.30am while officers examined the scene and debris was cleared from the road. 

Witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw a group of motorcyclists on the A303 prior to it, are asked to contact Sergeant Lyndon Barrett at Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Coalfield.
