The drugs were discovered in a lorry that arrived at around 6.45pm on Wednesday 7th March on a ferry from St Malo.
It is estimated the drugs, weighing 85 kilos, could have had a potential value of approximately £8.5 million when cut and sold on the street.
A 42-year-old man from Worcestershire was arrested in connection with the seizure and has been bailed until 10 July.
Andy Lumb, Border Force assistant director at Portsmouth, said:
"As this detection shows, our officers are on constant alert, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep class A drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.
