A teenage thief locked a 90-year-old woman in her bathroom and robbed her flat after forcing his way into her home.
Police described the robbery in Milovaig Street, in the Summerston area of Glasgow, as "despicable".
The elderly woman was uninjured but has been left badly shaken and upset by the ordeal at around 6.30pm on Monday.
The thief, who is thought to be around 16 years old, gained access to a common close in the street before forcing his way into the flat, police said.
After locking the woman in the bathroom he stole her purse with a three-figure sum of cash and bank cards inside.
He is described as 5ft 1in with a slim build and acne on his cheeks. He was wearing a black woolly hat and a black coloured tracksuit.
Detective Inspector John Morrison said: "This is a despicable crime carried out by a young man who clearly has no conscience and no regard for others.
"I am appealing to people in the area to think about the description and consider if they recognise it or know who the person is.
"Perhaps you noticed him in the area prior to the incident occurring or did you see him run off along Milovaig Street? Please, if you have any information or knowledge, please get in touch and pass your information on.
