Teenage Girl Raped in Newcastle

A teenage girl has been raped in the Elswick area of Newcastle.

It happened between 9pm and 11pm on Friday 7th October in a park at the bottom of Farndale Road in Elswick.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Phil Mordue said: "The attack took place in the basketball court area of the park.

We have arrested someone and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this attack but I would still appeal for any witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed anything untoward to come forward as they may have vital information.

We are doing all we can to investigate this incident."
