A 15 year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection to a stabbing in Derby on Sunday.

The 16 year-old was left in a critical condition on Sunday afternoon after the incident outside the Mitre pub on Spider Island.

The victim is still in a serious condition in hospital in relation to the event.

A 24 year-old, previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released without charge.

Detective Inspector Sarah McAughtrie, who is leading the investigation, said:

“This incident happened in the middle of the day at a very busy roundabout in Derby, so it’s highly probable that people saw something important.

“It’s an extremely serious incident and a teenaged boy is fighting for his life in hospital.

“We are still appealing for witnesses to come forward and I would urge them to get in touch immediately.

“It doesn’t matter how insignificant you think your information is; if you can help, please call.”
