Detectives investigating a fatal shooting in Ladywood are appealing for information about a car which is believed to be linked to the murder.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw a blue VW Passat being driven erratically in the Ladywood area between 4.45pm and 5.30pm last Tuesday (7 May).
Shots are understand to have been fired from the Passat towards a stationary Vauxhall Corsa - in which 23-year-old Dante Mullings and two others were sitting - in St Vincent Road at just after 5pm that day.
The occupants of the Passat drove off and the vehicle was found abandoned and burnt out in Duddeston Manor Road, Aston, later in the evening. Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car in around that area between 10pm and 10.30pm.
Dante and the two other men managed to exit the Corsa straight after the shooting but he collapsed a short distance down the road and was confirmed dead at the scene. The other men suffered injuries which are not life-changing.
In tribute his family said Dante was the ’epitome of kind, caring and thoughtful."
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mallett, from force CID, said: "This remains an active investigation and we’re continuing to appeal for anyone with information which can help us identify Dante’s killer.
"We believe the fatal shot was fired from the Passat which then fled the scene and was later found burnt out. We need anyone who saw the vehicle in the Ladywood area that day; or in Aston that evening to get in touch.
"It is a week on from Dante’s sad death and we need the help of the public in helping us establish the movements of this car and catch whoever was responsible for the shooting."
