Friends of Christina Edkins family say they have organised a fundraiser in her memory on Saturday the 14th of March to help young people in and around Birmingham.

Christina Edkins was stabbed on the number 9 bus on the Hagley Road in the city centre just over 2 years ago on the 7th of March 2013.

Dave Williamson went to school with Christina's dad Jason. He told us he decided to put on the gig at The Asylum Venue in Hockley to raise money for a local scout group, Beaver Scout Lapel in Halesowen. Dave is a builder and will be doing a lot of the renovation work himself including creating better access for wheelchair users.

Dave says: ''She (Christina) deserves to be remembered...The money from the event will go to the Christina Edkins Fund which supports a lot of youth groups and (Birmingham's) Children's hospital''

He says ''Christina's favorite colour was purple, so we are trying to get everyone who attends to wear something purple. I myself will be dying my beard purple.''
