The annual event celebrates the highest video play counts on MTV channels across the globe, and Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, LMFAO and Jennifer Lopez have also reached the achievement of 20,000 TV airplays in a single year.
Jessie J won the award for her second single 'Price Tag', Adele was named for 'Rolling In The Deep' while Katy Perry's 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' earned her the achievement.
LMFAO won for 'Party Rock Anthem', Maroon 5 for their summer 2011 hit 'Moves Like Jagger' and Jennifer Lopez for her Pitbull collaboration 'On The Floor'.
Bruno Mars has become the first artist to win two double platinum MTV Video Play Awards in a single year for his 2011 releases 'Grenade' and 'The Lazy Song'.
Meanwhile, David Guetta achieved four platinum videos in the past twelve months, and is also the first artist to do so, for his popular singles 'Who's That Chick?', 'Sweat', 'Where Them Girls At' and 'Without You'.
Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Rihanna have also been handed platinum awards for their most played music videos of 2011.
Adele is due to make her live comeback, following throat surgery back in November last year, at the Grammy Awards 2012 this weekend (12th February) in Los Angeles.
