Manchester's Circle Club temporarily shut

Circle Club has it's licence temporarily suspended after a huge brawl in the early hours of Sunday.

Superintendent Dean Howard, City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The decision to suspend the license of Circle Club based at Barton Square in Manchester came following an incident on 8 September 2013. One man was injured and four men were arrested on suspicion of affray and assault.

“The club has breached its licensing conditions to ensure public safety and prevent crime and disorder.

“Greater Manchester Police takes the breach of licensed premises very seriously as licensees should not only abide by the law but must also consider the safety of their patrons and staff. Breaches no matter how minor will not be tolerated and anyone in breach will have to face the consequences of their actions.

“Pubs and clubs obviously play an important role within the city however we cannot and will not tolerate premises that are poorly managed.”

A full review will now take place within 28 days to determine whether the pub can continue trading.

Felicity Tulloch, the solicitor for the owners of the Circle Club's given Capital this statement on their behalf:

"they remain committed to working in partnership with GMP’s licensing team to agree a way forward, as nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of their guests, team and the general public.

The matter is ongoing and so they don’t wish to comment any further at this point"
