Police have arrested four men in their 20s after a police chase through Birmingham.

When the car didn't stop, a chase began and police say knives and balaclavas were thrown out onto the road from the car.

The driver car lost control and crashed on Claremont Road in Hockley. All those inside were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The car, weapons and other items have been seized for forensic examination.

Inspector Bob French, from the force’s Traffic Unit, said: “An investigation is now underway to understand why the men were in the car and what their intentions were.

“What we do know is that our officers have pursued the Picasso for around 20 minutes to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

“I’d urge anyone with information which may aid our inquiries to contact us.”
