The rapper is collaborating with the music mogul on a new TV programme inspired by The X Factor.
Will.i.am and Simon Cowell are to launch a reality TV search to find the new Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.
The pair are understood to have discussed the concept, which will be similar to The X Factor but for technology instead of singing hopefuls, over dinner in Los Angeles last month.
"We're working on a project called X Factor for Tech — and it's going to be out of this world," Will.i.am told The Sun. "Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots.
"It's about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves — whether that’s in science or mathematics."
It has yet to be announced when the programme will air or what format it will have.
Simon Cowell and Will.i.am discussed the idea of dinner last month:
Meanwhile, Will.i.am is still putting the finishing touches to his latest solo album '#willpower', which will feature collaborations with the likes of Nicole Scherzinger and Britney Spears.
The album has yet to be given a release date.
