Will.i.am Hails "Human Genius" As He Watches Nasa's Curiosity Rover Land On Mars

The Black Eyed Peas star was at mission control to watch the robot land on the red planet.

Will.i.am has paid tribute to the "human genius" on display at Nasa after the space agency successfully landed a new robot rover on Mars.

The Black Eyed Peas star was at mission control at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California as the rover touched down in the early hours of this morning (6th August).

Will.i.am  kept his Twitter followers up to date with every development during the landing and also tweeted pictures from mission control.

"I'm here @ #jpl...I am proud to care and have passion for #stem...watching humanity at its finest..." Will.i.am wrote.

In one of his pictures, Will can be seen posing with Dave Lavery – one of the people responsible for building the rover, nicknamed Curiosity.

Will.i.am wrote: "Me and @davelavery...he's the genious that built the rover named #curiosity on #mars...#jpl."

Another tweet said: "Try to throw a golf ball from london to egypt & land it on the tip of the pyramid..thats what we are doing right now on mars with #curiosity."

Curiosity is now set to embark on a mission that will last at least two years as Nasa continue their quest to see whether life ever existed on Mars.
