The 'Moves Like Jagger' stars are recording for album number five after their success with 'Overexposed'.
Maroon 5 have confirmed that they have started work on a brand new album, fresh from announcing plans to tour North America this summer with Kelly Clarkson.
It was announced over the weekend that the 'Payphone' band will be hitting the road across 31 stops with the 'Dark Side' singer as part of the 2013 Honda Civic Tour, and frontman Adam Levine has also revealed they are now working on the follow-up to last year's 'Overexposed'.
"We're just getting started," Adam confirmed in an interview with the AP. "We've got some great songs in the can.
"The stuff we're working on now, it definitely has gone maybe a little darker in its sound, maybe back a little bit more to what we kind of did on 'Songs About Jane," band member James Valentine explained. "But at this point we do have all kinds of different songs and it's early."
The 'One More Night' band went on to say it feels "amazing" to have fans embrace their albums as much as they have, after their 2012 offering went platinum upon its release.
"It's so amazing to have an album people connect with and embrace," Adam explained. "It's a dream come true. It's hard to believe to have lightning strike twice and three times and tour times.
"We're having a moment. A good moment," he added.
