Katy Perry Congratulates Ex-Husband Russell Brand On Making It Ten Years Sober

The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer apparently sent a special email message to the comedian saying how "proud" she was.

Katy Perry has reportedly sent a special message to her former husband Russell Brand congratulating him on reaching ten years sober.

The 'Firework' star split from the British comedian at the end of 2011 following 14 months of marriage, with their divorce being finalised over the summer.

"10 years clean today," Russell tweeted. "Thanks for all your messages of love".

A source told The Sun that the 'Hot N Cold' singer sent her message to British star as she knew "how important this milestone is".

"She wanted to let him know that she was thinking of him and that she was still proud of what he has achieved," the insider told the publication. "She also wanted to drop him the email to wish him a happy 2013 and to let him know that her heart was finally healing." 

Katy has since been linked with John Mayer and the couple went public with their romance in recent weeks, arriving at a series of high-profile events together.

The singer has also recently been teasing the possibility of taking on more acting roles in the future admitting she wants to take on roles which make her "unrecognisable" to fans.
