The 'Part Of Me' star wants to take on roles that make her "unrecognisable" to fans.

Katy Perry has confirmed she hopes to take on more acting roles in the future after enjoying her guest spot on 'Raising Hope' earlier this year.

The 'Wide Awake' singer wants to take on roles that make her "unrecognisable" to her fans and allow her to "transform" into a completely different character.

"I want to do stuff that's a little unrecognisable," Katy revealed to Billboard this week. "The self-deprecation kind of humour where I don't always have to be lit so perfectly.

"I know I can be like the pretty girl, the teasing kitten," Katy explained. "But what I want to do is be like a Jerri from [Strangers With Candy].

"I just want to kind of transform," Katy added.

The 'Teenage Dream' singer played an unusual character called Rikki in the US series Raising Hope earlier this year, and Katy says she hopes to take on more unexpected roles similar to that in the future.

"I played a character named Rikki who had tight, permed red hair," Katy explained. "She was an officer wearing no makeup, with a slight 'stache. It was funny.

"It's nice to be able to lose yourself in that type of thing," the 'Part Of Me' singer added. "But I mostly want to work with select directors."

Last week Katy attended the Trevor Project Awards where she picked up an honour for her contributions towards increasing visibility and understanding of the community.

Katy Perry is working on her third studio album at present but has promised fans she be rushing the record.
