The 'Under The Sun' singer tweeted to thank fans for all their support in the wake of the reports this week.
Cheryl Cole and boyfriend Tre Holloway have reportedly split up after over a year together as a couple.
The 'Call My Name' singer and dancer Tre are alleged to have ended their romance back in June this year, but have remained friends and were spotted out together as recently as September.
"They actually split up in June so were going out as friends," a source told The Sun this week. "It was a mutual decision so there's no bad feelings.
"They want to remain good friends," the source explained. "Cheryl and Tre have tried to make it work but the long-distance relationship and work commitment got the better of them."
A separate source confirms the long-distance nature of their relationship was the main factor behind the pair's split.
"Although Cheryl does a lot of work in America, often it is in New York, which is still a good six-hour flight away," they told The Mirror. "The time difference, plus the hectic nature of Cheryl's work schedule eventually took their toll.
"Cheryl realised that if they weren't going to live together, realistically, the relationship just wasn't going to go anywhere."

While Cheryl herself has yet to officially comment on the split, she took to Twitter last night to thank fans for their support.
"Sometimes I just sit here by myself wondering why you're all so kind and nice and caring towards me," she tweeted on Tuesday evening (8th October). "It gets overwhelming. #soldiers.
"Thank you for everything I mean that from the [heart] I love you. You're amazing. #soldierloveinfulleffect," Cheryl added.
Earlier this month it was revealed Cheryl has signed on with the same management company as The X Factor acts, ready to relaunch her solo pop career with a new album next year.
