The 'Wake Me Up' DJ says he had wanted a team-up with the guitarist for some time.
Avicii has revealed he started working with Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers long before the legendary musician teamed up with Daft Punk this year.
The famous guitarist features on several of Daft Punk's songs from their album 'Random Access Memories', including hit single 'Get Lucky', but Avicii insists he got the idea to collaborate with Nile some time ago.
Nile features alongside American Idol alumni Adam Lambert on Avicii's song 'Lay Me Down', on his newly released album 'True'.
"The first time I met Nile was at my Radio City show a couple of years ago," Avicii revealed to MTV News this week. "That was before I heard anything about collaborations with Daft Punk.
"A lot of people mention it like, now that Daft Punk has worked with him, now everyone is going to work with him too," the Swedish DJ explained. 'But for me, I had always been a fan and I always wanted to work with him, from way before that."

The 'You Make Me' DJ and producer also explained his decision to use 'Never Close Our Eyes' singer Adam Lambert as the vocalist on the track.
"I've heard a lot of vocalists and he is really rare, such a talented vocalist, and he killed that song," Avicii added.
Avicii performed at iTunes Festival 2013 last weekend and released new album 'True' this week.
