Pixie Lott has revealed that Mariah Carey was one of her big inspirations for getting into music.
The 'All About Tonight' singer, who is supporting the search for the Next BRIT Thing, said she also listened to Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder when she was younger.
"I grew up listening to all the big singers and I loved a lot of soul music," she added.
Pixie is one of the supporters of Next BRIT Thing, which is offering 11-19 year-olds the chance to have their music heard by superstars and win VIP tickets to the 2012 BRIT Awards.
The public can play their part and vote for who they want to be crowned this year's Next BRIT Thing.
Pixie also offered her advice for wannabee songwriters, telling them to "write as many songs as you can to get the best experience".
Voting is open until 12 noon on 16th December at www.nextbritthing.com.
