The 'Payphone' band are excited about starting work on their fifth album in the near future.

Maroon 5 are already planning their next album despite fourth record 'Overexposed' only just being released this month.

The 'Moves Like Jagger' stars are currently promoting their latest studio offering, as well as new single 'One More Night', but are excited about recording new music and expect to start working on a new record soon.

"I think we're more focused than we've ever been, and all we really are interested in doing now is working on music," Maroon 5's James Valentine told Billboard.com this week. "Usually we'd be on tour and have fun and come back home and use that time to make a record.

"Now I think we're just at a point where we feel like there's more music in us than that," he added, explaining that the next Maroon 5 album will be ready sooner than people expect. "We're working on a lot of stuff. I think the next recording's going to be ready a lot sooner than our previous records."

'Overexposed' was released at the start of this month and debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart just behind Linkin Park's latest record.

Singer Adam Levine recently said the band had decided to embrace their pop side on the new album, by working with outside songwriters for the first time.

Maroon 5 are scheduled to begin touring 'Overexposed' with a concert in Stateline, Nevada on 21st July.
