Katy Perry - California Gurls

Katy Perry announced that she was planning a new album for summer 2010, but we didn't realise quite how summery it was going to be.

'Summer Starts Now' will be Katy's third album and this week Katy has given us our first taster of the album with a new single, 'California Gurls' featuring Snoop Dogg.

Katy revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that the song is a response to Jay-Z's 'Empire State of Mind', it seems Katy was fed up with New York getting all the attention and wanted to give her home state of California a mention.

With lyrics such as:

"California girls we're unforgettable,

Daisy dukes, bikinis on top.

Sun kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popsicle."

Plus various mentions of 'freakin' in jeeps' and 'sippin' on gin and juice'.

So, that's no messing about from Katy. If that doesn't paint a picture in your mind you haven't been paying attention. We want to know after New York, and now California, who's going to put London on the map? Attention pop stars, we need a London song this summer!
