The 'Wide Awake' singer says showing the end of her relationship with Russell Brand was unavoidable in her new film.
Katy Perry says she hopes people will be inspired by her showing intimate footage about her split from husband Russell Brand in her new 3D concert movie Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D.
The 'Teenage Dream' singer says she "couldn't avoid the elephant in the room", and wanted to make sure she covered her separation from the comedian with "integrity", while showing her side of the relationship breakdown.
"In my personal struggle, you see me not changing and not giving up on this dream that I've had my whole life," Katy revealed to MTV News yesterday (22nd June). "Hopefully people are inspired by that.
"You don't always see me with all the gorgeous lighting and makeup on and all that. I think it's fine," Katy explained. "Hollywood is so fake and people need to realise that people are just people, and you, too, don't need to be born into something or have money or have whatever product someone is hawking on you."
She added: "Find out what your gift is and nurture it."
When asked whether she worries about Russell's side to the story coming out in the media, Katy says she believes truth always wins out and claims there was no way she could have not covered their eventual split in the movie will being honest.
"The truth will always prevail. Everything has to be handled with integrity and appropriately, and it's not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn't avoid the elephant in the room," Katy added.
