Katy Perry appears as 'Smurfette' in a trailer for the new animated film 'The Smurfs'.

The trailer shows Smurfette struggling with her skirt that blows over a grill evoking Marilyn Monroe's scene in 'The Seven Year Itch'.

Speaking on the red carpet for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards she admitted: 'I've never seen an episode because my parents wouldn't let me.

'My mum thought that Smurfette was a little bit slutty, being the only female in the village. And now I showed her. I called her up and was like: 'Guess what mum; I'm Smurfette!'.
