Jennifer Lopez Hints At American Idol Exit As Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Quits Show

The 'On The Floor' singer says "maybe it's time to go" as she ponders departure from music reality series.

Jennifer Lopez has admitted she could be set to follow Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler be leaving American Idol.

The 'I'm Into You' star told the Today show that the decision has been on her mind for a long time.

"Maybe it's time for me to go," she confessed. "It's been on my mind a lot, as you can imagine, and now it's like, "Do we continue on this journey?

"I've loved it so much. I enjoy the show so much. It's a tough decision either way."

She added: "At the end of the day, whichever way, it's a heartbreaking decision if I'm going to have to go."

The singer and Steven joined the panel two seasons ago alongside returning star Randy Jackson.

Steven announced the news that he had left his position on the show in a statement as he wants to concentrate on his band.

"After some long... hard thoughts... I've decided it’s time to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbits," he revealed. "I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back - but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band."

Rumours have been circulating that the likes of Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey could be set to take over a judging role.

Former runner-up of the series Adam Lambert has also been linked to a role on the show and recently told Capital that he would "jump at the chance".
