The girl band's reunion single hit the Capital FM airwaves for the first time this afternoon.
Fans have hailed Girls Aloud's brand new single 'Something New' as "amaze" and "pure genius" after its first play on Capital FM this afternoon.
The single, which leaked online earlier today, was played for the first time on Capital at midday and marks the girl band's first single release since 'Untouchable' back in 2009.
"@CapitalOfficial ITS AMAZING!! YAY GIRLS ALOUD ARE BACKK!! 3 YEARS WAS TO LONG!!" Twitter user @CherylSoldierX tweeted straight after the first play on Capital this afternoon, while user @kezzawbu posted: "That's made my day!!"
User @JessBarber wrote: "@CapitalOfficial THIS IS PURE GENIUS! #GirlsAloudAreBACK I even pulled over for this and I'm not #tweedriving!"
"Just listening to the new @girlsaloud track on @CapitalOfficial!! It's AMAZE!! I've missed those girls…" @KatieRebekah tweeted, while @IDLETEEN96 hailed 'Something New' as "one of their best singles yet".
"We know how long you've waited, so HERE IT IS! The proper version of@GirlsAloud #SomethingNew," Polydor Records posted during the first play on Capital.
Cheryl Cole's newly published autobiography My Story hints that the band will be releasing a greatest hits collection to mark their tenth anniversary as well as launching a new tour, although the band have yet to confirm any details of their reunion outside of the new single.
Girls Aloud will make a big announcement this Friday (19th October) which will be streamed live on YouTube.
