The soul singer has passed away through complications of leukemia.
American soul singer Etta James has passed away at the age of 73.
The star died through complications of leukemia and was also said to be suffering from hepatits C and dementia at her time of her passing.
Etta had a long and decorated career in the music industry and recently featured on Flo Rida's hit single 'Good Feeling' after a sample from her 1962 hit 'Something's Got a Hold on Me' was used by the rapper.
Her manager and friend Lupe De Leon made the announcement today (20th January) and said: "This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world."
Leon also added that the singer had passed away at a hospital in Riverside, California.
Meanwhile, 'Good Feeling' could be in the running to claim back the top spot on this weekend's Vodafone Big Top 40 chart from Jessie J who last week hit the summit with her latest single 'Domino'.
