The 'Good Time' singer chats to Capital about the huge impact the boy band have had across the pond this year.

Carly Rae Jepsen has praised One Direction and put their huge success in the US and Canada down to their "great music" and personalities.

The 'What Makes You Beautiful' stars have taken America by storm, achieving two million selling albums and becoming the first British band ever to debut at number one on the US Billboard chart.

Asked what she thought was the key to the group's global success, especially in the US and Canada, the 'Call My Maybe' singer tried to pick out some of the group's best points.

"Obviously great music, talented guys, but it's hard to know just what's the one combination of things that sort of clicks and takes off," she explained. "But I think for those boys it seems to be a lot about the music and their personalities."

She continued: "They seem to be really endearing to the public. It's rad to watch."

The band are currently preparing to head out on a new world tour and recently performed a headline show at Madison Square Garden in early December.
