One of the show's stars hinted at when viewers can expect an end to the long-running CBS sitcom.
If it seems like The Big Bang Theory has been on since the beginning of time, you're definitely not the only one who feels this way. The show has been a CBS mainstay since 2007 and was renewed for two more seasons in 2017.
12 seasons of ANY show is a lot, and apparently the stars of The Big Bang Theory think so too. Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard on the show, strongly suggested that the twelfth season of the show may, indeed, its last. The Big Bang Theory is currently in its eleventh season.
According to TV Line, at a Television Critics Association event, Galecki told press “The only manner in which the cast has discussed wrapping [The Big Bang Theory] has been that we’re all going to be very sad when that day comes."
“But I think at this point everyone’s very comfortable with 12 seasons being a good time to go home and see our families.”
It will definitely be weird when The Big Bang Theory is no longer on the Fall schedule, but there's no denying that the show has had a very lengthy run.
CBS haven't made an official statement on when the show will end, but if the show's lead is publicly hinting about season 12 being the end of the road, it's probably a conversation that has taken place at the network.
IF The Big Bang Theory were to wrap in its twelfth season, that would take fans into the middle of 2019. However, the show's spin-off prequel, Young Sheldon, has just been renewed for a second season, so BBT's legacy could live on.
