Kylie is wearing twists in the photo, which is from a Paper magazine shoot last year.
Kylie Jenner has been accused of cultural appropriation just weeks after her sister Kim Kardashian received backlash for her "blackface" photoshoot.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star shared an unseen outtake from her Paper magazine shoot in February 2019. In the photo, Kylie is licking her lips and wearing her blonde hair in twists – a protective style for black women.
Luca and Alessandro Morelli, the photographers behind the image, have said that the concept was inspired by Gwen Stefani. The singer, who has received criticism for appropriating multiple cultures in the past, wore a similar hairstyle to Kylie in Moby's 'South Side' video back in 2000.
After sharing the picture, Kylie received backlash and accusations of cultural appropriation in the comment section, Daily Mail reports. Other comments on the Morelli Brothers' post suggested there were "bad" comments on Kylie's pic too. The image was quickly removed from her main feed, however, Kylie did share the photo on her Instagram Story.

This wouldn't be the first time that Kylie has been pulled up on cultural appropriation. In 2015, Kylie was forced to turn off her Instagram comments after sharing an image of herself in cornrows. Two years later in 2017, Kylie and her sister Kendall Jenner were criticised for appropriating Chola culture in a campaign image for their Kendall + Kylie clothing line.
