Emeli Sande Poses In Graduation Picture After Being Given Honorary University Degree

The 'Next To Me' singer has been honoured for her work in music after attending Glasgow University back in 2009.

Emeli Sande has been awarded an honorary university degree for her success on the music industry over the past two years.

The Scottish singer-songwriter was presented with the Doctor Of The University degree at Glasgow University on Wednesday (12th June), as part of their Commemoration Day celebrations.

Emeli was given the honorary degree for her "outstanding contribution to the music industry", after attending the university to study neuroscience between 2006 and 2009.

The 'Clown' singer has previously admitted that because of her interests in both music and medicine she would love to move into music therapy sometime in the future.

Emeli has achieved huge success in music particularly over the past year with the release of her album 'Our Version Of Events', a string of huge hit singles as well as performing at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Emeli Sande has also been making waves in America over the past few months, as well as confirming plans to head back into the studio later this year.
