The Capital Late Show With Marvin Humes 10pm - 1am
When she first burst onto the music scene almost ten years ago with her debut single, Genie In A Bottle, who'd have thought that she'd go on to become one of the biggest selling female artists of her generation.
All these years later and she's still at the top of her game, as demonstrated by her electro pop-influenced current single and title track from her first ever Greatest Hits album, Keeps Gettin' Better.
Like Madonna before her, Christina Aguilera has constantly evolved over the past decade, transforming not only her image but also her musical style along the way. From the bubble gum pop sound of Genie, to the urban feel of 2001 chart-topper, Dirrty, through to the 20s and 30s-inspired sound of Candyman, you never quite know what you're going to get, and yet she always delivers the goods in that sensational, multi-octave ranged voice of hers.
Album highlights include her chart-topping update of the classic, Lady Marmalade with fellow female stars Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink, the beautiful ballad, The Voice Within and the irresistible Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You).
As well as her current single, there's another trio of new tracks on offer, but sadly they're a bit of a mixed bag. New song, Dynamite is catchy enough and we absolutely adore the 2008 makeover of her debut hit, rechristened Genie 2.0, however, we're a little disappointed by the re-recorded version of Beautiful entitled You Are What You Are, as it lacks the raw emotion of the original. Still as career retrospectives go, this is about as good as it gets. Long may she reign!
