Virgin Media Sale on Capital Network Breakfast, January 2020

RULES

  1. The following rules (“Specific Rules”) together with the general competition terms and conditions (which can be found at https://www.capitalfm.com/terms-conditions/competition/) (the “Competition Terms and Conditions”) of Global (as defined in the Competition Terms and Conditions) apply to the Virgin Media Sale radio competition (the “Competition") which will run from Wednesday 15thJanuary 2020 to Friday 24thJanuary 2020 on Capital FM (the “Radio Station”). 
  2. Anyone who enters the Competition (an “Entrant”) will be deemed to have read and accepted the Specific Rules and the Competition Terms and Conditions and will be bound by them.  

Details of the Competition:

  1. To enter the Competition an Entrant must go online to the competition entry page at www.capitalfm.com, register their details and complete the entry form. Online entry will open at 10:10am on Wednesday 15thJanuary 2020 and close at 10:00am on Thursday 23rdJanuary 2020.
  2. In the entry form Entrants must tell us an entertaining story. This must be based upon a true story, but specific information such as names and locations may be changed to protect the identity of people who may feature in it. There will be a maximum word limit of 300 characters. 
  3. To select an entrant for on air, entries will be judged on the following criteria by the Breakfast show producer; that they are i) entertaining ii) humorous and iii) engaging.  
  4. Any entries containing harmful, offensive or defamatory material will be removed from the Competition.
  5. For each competition round, one Entrant will be contacted via telephone to arrange a pre-recorded call with three Presenters. During the call with the Presenters, the Entrant will be given thirty seconds in which to tell their story, in a bid to receive a ‘Seal of approval’ from each of the Presenters.  
  6. In order to win the ‘Seal of Approval’, Presenters will be judged on the same criteria as detailed in section 5. Presenters will not have any previous knowledge of the story that the Entrants will read out on air and the decision to give their Seal of Approval will be completely independent. Their approval will be signaled by a buzzer sound effect. 
  7. Only details of the story given during the thirty-second time limit will be considered by the Presenters. There will be a countdown timer to signal to the entrant how long they have to explain their story. 
  8. One Seal of Approval from one presenter will win the Entrant £1,000, two Seals of Approval from two presenters will win them £2,000 and three Seals of Approval from all three presenters will win them £3,000.
  9. All Entrants selected to play for each daily competition round will be required to talk to the presenter(s) and the conversation will be played on-air. If the caller fails to answer a return call from Global, is driving at the time of the call and is unable to safely pull over or cannot continue the call for any reason, or the phone line is not of a suitable quality for broadcast (at the discretion of the producer),the call may be terminated and another Entrant selected at random.
  10. Only buzzers that go off during the time limit will count as a Seal of Approval. Any buzzers that go off before or after the time limit will not be counted. 
  11. The pre-recorded call will be played out on air, as part of a competition round, when they will be announced as the winner and their prize. This will take place on the Capital Breakfast Show between 6:30am and 10:00am.
  12. There will be five competition rounds, one per day, between Monday 20thand Friday 24thJanuary 2020.
  13. By submitting your chosen story to the Radio Station you: (i) warrant that you control all copyright and all other rights (including, without limitation, performers’ rights) in and (ii) confirm the grant by you to the Radio Station [and Global] of a worldwide, perpetual, royalty free license in the copyright and all other rights in and to the story (including, without limitation, performers’ rights) and you waive any moral rights and like rights you have in relation to the video; so that the Radio Station [and Global] shall be entitled to use the video in any and all media at no cost to the Radio Station [and Global] and such use shall not infringe the rights of any third party.

Eligibility:

  1. Entrants must be 18 years or older
  2. Entry is restricted to one entry per person; duplicate entries will be excluded from the Competition. 

Prize:

There will be five winners in total, one winner per competition round will each receive a cash prize:

  1. The Prize is cash to the value of up to £3,000 per day. £1,000 will be awarded per Seal of Approval as detailed in section 7.

Prize terms and conditions:

  1. Winners will be contacted within 28 days of the closing date of the competition. 
  2. Entrants must have a bank account as the cash prize will be transferred via bank transfer.
  3. Global reserves the right to substitute the prize with another prize at its absolute discretion.
