"Frankly it's incredibly optimistic of them to think that the kind of man who doesn't care about consent *does* want to use a condom."
It might be 2019 but sadly some people still don't understand the meaning of consent when it comes to having sex. The issue has become such a problem that an Argentine sex toy company, Tulipán, has created a special condom that needs four hands for it to be opened.
This is the average age when teens lose their virginity
For those of you who don't know, consent means giving permission for something to happen or agreeing to do something. It can, of course, be revoked at anytime.
The "consent condom" was created to highlight and raise awareness surrounding the issues with consent. To open the condoms, there has to be two people holding both their hands on different buttons on the packet. The condom is then released.
Tulipán created the product with AHF Argentina, an organisation campaigning for the rights of those living with HIV.
The consent condom is currently being handed out for free around the country's capital in order to help fight the HIV issue in the country. However, the company are planning on selling it at a later date.
But the announcement of the world's first consent condom triggered some pressing questions. People pointed out that using the condom doesn't demonstrate someone had given their consent because, as we know, that can change at any time, including when the condom has already been opened.
If a man doesn’t care about your consent I can promise you he doesn’t care about putting on a condom first https://t.co/HjQxDYsysd

Alright well I was raped by a guy who refused to wear a condom so now what? https://t.co/eTopEgXqnw

OK so I have seen & taken the piss out of a LOT of products in my time but the Consent Condom is definitely the worst one I've seen in 2019 so far. Doubt that many potential rapists are going to be foiled by this https://t.co/WWPKXl74qM

I know this is probs just a way to try and go viral but:

1. This dumbs down the idea of healthy communication re: sex in a harmful way
2. It's the condom equivalent of dudes asking for recorded videos of consent
3. Putting on a condom ≠ automatic consent of all sexual activity https://t.co/Xuq58MKJlW
Bloody hell. Making condoms harder to use isn’t going to encourage consent!!

Stunned at this. This doesn’t prove consent in the first place, and consent can change at any time before or after a condom is opened. How have they not thought this through?
Good thing all rapists buy consent condoms

Frankly it's incredibly optimistic of them to think that the kind of man who doesn't care about consent *does* want to use a condom.

Highlighting the importance of consent? I'm betting condom use isn't high on the list of things that concern the type of guy who isn't worried about consent. Preferably, we put those guys behind a steel door that requires two hands and a big key to open. ⚖⛓🗝🔒
