The Formula One star says he has lost someone "really special" to his life recently.
Lewis Hamilton has admitted he is going through a "really, really tough time" in the wake of his break-up from girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.
The couple called time on their romance last week after five years together on and off, and racing driver Lewis says his world has been "turned upside down" by the split from 'Boomerang' singer Nicole.
"I'm trying my hardest to be positive but I'm going through a really, really tough time at the moment with the loss of someone really, really special in my life," Lewis told Sky Sports over the weekend. "My world's been turned upside down.
"But I have a job to motivate my team," he explained. "If I come in with my head down and negative energy then that goes around to all my mechanics who work day and night and I don't ever want that.
"So I'm really trying to pull myself together and keep my head up, but it's so hard to do," Lewis added.

The Formula One driver finished in fifth place at the German Grand Prix over the weekend.
Reports fresh from the split suggested 'Try With Me' singer Nicole had been left "heartbroken" by the reportedly mutual decision to part ways, and she even commented on the break-up during X Factor auditions last week.
