The 'Right There' star headed back to the contestant's hometown for a special gig ahead of this weekend's live show.

Nicole Scherzinger joined The X Factor hopeful James Arthur in his hometown of Middlesbrough this week as he performed a homecoming show ahead of The X Factor final.

The 'Don't Hold Your Breath' singer wore a Middlesbrough football club shirt as she introduced the hopeful on stage, who was all smiles as he performed for his local supporters.

The former Pussycat Doll also wore a pair of knee high leather boots and a short skirt as she danced around on stage and gave the 24 year-old a kiss on the cheek.

The judge also took to her Twitter account to reveal how much she was enjoying being in the Northern town.

She tweeted: "Seeing my boy @JamesArthur23 hometown in Middlesbrough by the Sea, WHO KNEW!?... It could be so stunning here!"

James will go head to head with Christopher Maloney and Jahmene Douglas in this weekend's final after last week saw boy band Union J leave the show.

Meanwhile, 2011 winners of the show Little Mix will be heading to London's O2 Arena this weekend as they perform at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball on a line up which includes fellow former X Factor stars One Direction and JLS.

Nicole is also preparing to release her new single, and recently filmed the music video for her track 'Boomerang'.
