The 'Smile' star defends the Royal over the recently published images in French Closer magazine.

Lily Allen has come to the defence of Kate Middleton over the recently published topless pictures of the Royal in French magazine Closer.

The 'Alfie' singer took to her Twitter account to hit out at the publication who have defended their decision to print the photos of the Duchess Of Cambridge.

"The fact that there is even a debate about whether Closer magazine were right or wrong to publish those pictures is quite frankly stupid," she tweeted.

The images were captured whilst Kate and Prince Williams were on a private holiday in the south of France.

The Royal Family have since announced plans to sue the publication with a spokesperson stating it was a "grotesque and unjustifiable invasion of privacy."

There was similar controversy involving the Royal family recently when pictures of Prince Harry partying in Las Vegas were posted online and subsequently into The Sun – causing uproar amongst many.

Meanwhile, Lily Allen is currently rumoured to be working on a new studio album and is also preparing for the birth of her second child with husband Sam Cooper.

She also features on a new collaborative song with Pink for the US star's forthcoming album 'The Truth About Love'.
