Aston Merrygold Plans Acting Move After JLS Split Up

The 'Take A Chance On Me' singer also reveals he told his mum first about the band's break-up.

Aston Merrygold has revealed he is considering a move into acting in the wake of the news that JLS will go their separate ways at the end of 2013.

The 'She Makes Me Wanna' singer says, unlike the rest of the boy band, he is "still searching" for his path in life, and won't rush himself to move on to new projects now they are calling time on the band.

Aston also says his mum was the first person outside the band he told about the split, revealing that she originally thought he was texting with pregnancy news.

"The first person I told about our plan to call it a day was my mum," Aston told The Sun this week. "First it was just a text saying, 'I've got some news'. She replied in seconds with, 'Who is pregnant?'

"So I called her and told her not to worry, and that me and the boys were going our separate ways," he explained. "She is hard to shock but she was obviously upset. The whole experience was lived by all our families as much as us."

The 'Love You More' singer went on to reveal his plans to move into acting for some time, and admitted he won't miss the pressure of being in a successful boy band.

"I plan to explore as many avenues as possible, with no pressure," Aston said. "I'll go and do some acting, audition for roles that could be for sitcoms, could be for films, could be for plays.

"I'll do stuff that's no pressure for a while, instead of being in the relentless cycle of a boy band," he added. "I won't miss the pressure of being in a band."
