What does Watermelon Sugar mean? Harry Styles teases new song on Twitter

"Kiwi walked so Watermelon Sugar could run". Harry Styles is hyping up an unreleased song called "Watermelon Sugar" and fans are understandably shook.

Harry Styles is the king of cryptically tweeting about his unreleased music with no context. He recently sent fans into meltdown mode when he tweeted "do" shortly before the release of his comeback single 'Lights Up'. Now he's back to his old tricks, tweeting about 'Watermelon Sugar' and sending fans into red alert.

On Tuesday (23 Oct), Harry tweeted "Kiwi walked so Watermelon Sugar could run". 'Kiwi' is, of course, a reference to the third single from his self-titled debut album.

It seems pretty likely that "Watermelon Sugar" could be Harry's next single and, perhaps, one that feels like a spiritual successor to the 2017 fan favourite, 'Kiwi'.

'Kiwi' immediately earned fan favourite status among Harry Styles fans with suggestive lyrics like "she sits beside me like a silhouette/Hard candy dripping on me 'til my feet are wet/And now she's all over me, it's like I paid for it".

If 'Watermelon Sugar' has this same energy, fans are likely to go all the way up for the song when it eventually drops.

So, what does Watermelon Sugar mean? Urban Dictionary and fans already have a few theories.

Watermelon Sugar's Urban Dictionary entry says it's a "name for a type of street heroine that originated in Southern Georgia in the late 1990s." Fascinating.

Could there be a single about an addictive lover in our HS2 future?

Of course, Harry did not follow up his tweet with any additional information. So now we're all sitting here thinking about fruit and wondering when this album is coming to step on our necks.

Harry Styles has to be the only person who could tweet about fruit salad and have half the internet absolutely shook.

We'll say this. Harry definitely knows how to work us all into a frenzy and then leave again without a trace. We'll see ya'll for the regularly scheduled emergency meeting of the Harries when 'Watermelon Sugar' eventually drops.
