Halsey also explained how Yungblud inspired 'Finally // beautiful stranger" in an interview with Zane Lowe about Manic.
Halsey has spoken about her relationship with Yungblud and writing her Manic single 'Finally // beautiful stranger' about him.
Halsey and Yungblud dated each other between November 2018 and September 2019. The two stars regularly posted about each other on social media, attended award shows together and even collaborated on the hit song '11 Minutes'. Since their breakup, Halsey has begun dating American Horror Story star Evan Peters but the two musicians still remain close today.

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Halsey opened up about Yungblud, how he inspired her single 'Finally // beautiful stranger" on her new studio album Manic and why she's decided to stop dating musicians for the time being.
Chatting about 'Finally // beautiful stranger', Halsey said: "I wrote it at home. I wrote it in my living room at 2am. I was dating Dom. I was really happy. I was thinking about the night that we met. I needed to tell this romantic story. I'd not written a love song before, not one without a punchline... It's just a nice song. It's about feeling safe and feeling like you can trust love."
Halsey then added: "I loved it so much and I had to get it out. I really just wrote it for him. He loves it. I'm happy that I have it too. Dom and I are just friends now." She then added: "People sometimes justifiably, sometimes not, swarm someone's ex and develop all these narratives about them. And he's just a really awesome guy.

Halsey continued: "Everyone's got this thing like be careful if you date Halsey because you're gonna get a song and it's like yeah you probably will but it doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a bad thing 'cause here's just a really nice one about a really awesome guy."
Halsey also explained why she avoids dating musicians. She said: "I stopped dating musicians which is for my own benefit. I want everyone to be the best version of themselves so much that I sometimes don’t focus on making me the best version of myself. I do everything in my power to help them succeed... And then, at some point, I’m like where do I fit in this box."

Discussing her love life further, she continued: "So I got a bigger box. The other thing is I have been far more discreet about my romantic pursuits than I ever have in the past. A lot of that comes from two things: a desire to really protect what I have going on right now and not wanting anybody else to be a part of it because it’s mine and it’s special."
Halsey went on: "It’s helped me with this album especially because I put my foot down and was like "Here’s what we’re not going to do. We’re not going to make all this music about me and whoever I’m dating. This album is about me. So I don’t want you to know what my romantic relationships are like because it shouldn’t matter."
