Halsey was caught texting during Shawn Mendes' VMAs performance and it's hilarious

We've all been there.

The MTV Video Music Awards returned again on Monday night (26 Aug) and as to be expected we saw some killer performances from Lizzo, Missy Elliot, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. But the real stand-out moment of the night was Halsey being caught on camera frantically texting while Shawn was on stage.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello put on an extremely steamy performance of 'Señorita', for which they won Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography. However, the singer also performed his solo hit 'If I Can't Have You'.

As he took to the stage, Halsey was spotted sneakily checking her phone during Shawn's performance and it was hilarious.

Who was Halsey texting so frantically!? Who knows but the internet was in stitches.

Don't worry, there's no drama here. It's pretty clear Halsey didn't intentionally try and miss Shawn's performance because just a few seconds later she was seen bopping along to his track.
