Rihanna's new Fenty clothing line is being criticised for being too expensive

"Rihanna's luxury line is too expensive for me, the broke millennial it wasn't targeted towards."
At this point, there's not much Rihanna can't do. Not only did she bless us with masterpieces like "Umbrella" and "Work", she has starred in multiple Hollywood movies, changed the makeup game with Fenty Beauty and even ventured into lingerie with her line Savage x Fenty. Honestly, how does she find the time?
Now Rihanna is bringing us her new Fenty clothing line – but its being criticised for the "disappointing" prices.
Her new fashion line is with LVMH, home of Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Dior and Marc Jacobs, so we just knew it was about to be pretty boujie. The launch of Fenty makes Rihanna the first woman to ever create an original brand at LVMH and the first woman of colour to lead one there. It's also the first new fashion house created by LVMH since Christian Lacroix in 1987. She really did THAT.
Rihanna gave an exclusive first look at the collection in Paris and as CEO and artistic director, the singer had clearly injected her individual style into every single design.
There are 18 pieces in the collection and the first Fenty drop goes on sale on May 29 – but wait, you might need to save up a little first…
An entire price list isn't out just yet but according to Vogue, prices range from 200 Euros (£176.50 or $224) for a white t-shirt up to around 1,100 Euros (£979 or $1241) for a reversible parka. Yep, time to give that piggy bank a shake.
Rihanna has had clothing collaborations with River Island and Puma in the past, which had a much lower price point, so her fans were a little shocked by the high prices.
Okay I am a little disappointed that Fenty prices are extremely high. Her beauty brand is affordable and I expected her to carry that energy to her fashion brand.

I tweeted about that pink outfit I wanted from the new Fenty line and just discovered it costs $2,200 in total. So, that's not happening..... I thought we were dealing with low-end luxury prices... like I have my eye on several Jacquemus pieces that don't cost that much. pic.twitter.com/PLUm4h724A

However, others defended Rihanna. Like, hello!? It's luxury.
It’s a luxury clothing line not H & M.

it says "luxury clothing line" like right there https://t.co/k3rhktw41T

Rihanna has two brands that are at a very accessible price point. Fenty is a luxury brand, not Zara, so the clothing is going to be at a “luxury” price point. What is this take? Lmao https://t.co/WB6fcesUZP

People are complaining about Fenty prices? Fenty. Prices.

Fenty… under the conglomerate of LVMH? pic.twitter.com/2KZ2ZcUMYA
Can’t believe people thought a “luxury” fashion brand was going to have the same price tag as high street clothes 🤧 https://t.co/5Z1lfz8tuM
