The 'Next To Me' star will pass the baton by giving the UK singer his first BRIT award this week.

Emeli Sande will present rising UK singer-songwriter Tom Odell with the BRITs Critics' Choice Award for 2013 at this week's nominations ceremony.

The Scottish singer-songwriter will follow tradition in a passing of the baton ceremony as she hands over the prestigious award to 'Another Love' singer Tom, who has been widely tipped as one of the next big stars of music.

Last year's BRIT Awards ceremony saw 'Domino' singer Jessie J do similarly when she presented 'My Kind Of Love' singer Emeli with the gong, saying at the time she was honoured to pass on the prize to someone she respects so much.

'Can't Pretend' singer Tom Odell is expected to perform live at this week's BRITs nominations ceremony, as is fellow rising star Jessie Ware.

Emeli Sande has gone on to have huge success in the UK since winning the Critics' Choice Award in 2012, with her debut album 'Our Version Of Events' now just behind The Beatles for the record of most weeks spent inside the album chart top ten.

Emeli Sande is also expected to release a live CD and DVD compilation from her Royal Albert Hall performance in November last year, which is due out on 4th February.

The BRIT Awards 2013 nominations ceremony takes place in London on Thursday 10th January.
