Chris Martin's band finally get to number one with their latest single.

Coldplay have topped the Vodafone Big Top 40 chart with their latest single 'Paradise'.

The band held off a challenge from Leona Lewis, whose cover of Nine Inch Nails' 'Hurt' enjoyed a late sales surge following her performance on The X Factor last night (10th December).

'Paradise' is the second official single to be taken from Coldplay's latest album 'Mylo Xyloto'.

The band, fronted by Chris Martin, are set to make their debut appearance on The X Factor tonight (11th December).

Elsewhere on this week's chart, Olly Murs' 'Dance With Me Tonight' was at number three, while T-Pain's '5 O'Clock' featuring Lily Allen was a new entry at number four.

The top five was completed by Mariah Carey's festive hit, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.
