The 'Paradise' stars reveal their recent album was based on the story of the character in the upcoming books.
Coldplay have announced plans to release a six part comic series which is based on a character who influenced the sound and shape of their last album.
The 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' stars unveiled the project on their official website last night (10th July) alongside collaborator Mark Osborne and the man behind such films as Kung Fu Panda and the Spongebob Squarepants movie.
"Three years ago we had an idea with our friend Mark Osborne about a character called Mylo Xyloto - 'xylo' as in xylophone, 'to' as in toe," they revealed. "Gradually Mylo's story and universe came together and this ended up providing the backdrop for the album and tour.
"Now we're proud to announce that early next year the story is going to come out as a six-part comic. We hope you like it. It was fun making it."
Speaking about the project, Mark added that the whole band were heavily involved throughout.
"The whole band has been approving things all along, especially at the stage when I was developing the visual look of the universe and the "bible" for the project," he confessed. "The real serious story collaboration on the movie started with just me and Chris, with him at a piano sometimes (which was f****** crazy cool) and with both of us writing and sketching ideas out."

Asked how much the comic has influenced the album, he added: "Well, I'd like to think the development of the story did affect the album, and the album certainly did affect the development of the comic, but it's all a bit mixed together for me."
The comics are being published by Simpsons creator Matt Groening's Bongo Comics Group and the first edition will be unveiled at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International event this week.

Meanwhile, Coldplay are currently on their worldwide tour in promotion of the album of the same name and will head to Toronto on 23rd July for their next performance.
During their show in Florida last month, Chris Martin paid tribute to One Direction by singing a line from their hit single 'What makes You Beautiful' during the set.
