The 'Want U Back' star defends her music and says recording is "hard work".
Cher Lloyd has said she considers herself to be a "businesswoman" and not a celebrity.
The 'Want U Back' star said singers were often taken for granted and that making music was "hard work".
The former X Factor star has had a mixed reaction from critics since she appeared on the programme in 2010.
Speaking to Heat magazine, Cher said she was not "your average celebrity, and never will be. I am a businesswoman".
She added: "We singers are known as public property, just because this is what we've dreamed of doing forever.
"[But] it doesn't mean you can knock us to the ground and treat us like s***. We're real people, and what we're doing is hard work."
Cher is currently promoting her new single 'Want U Back'.
Fans will be able to chat to the star when she takes part in Capital FM's next webchat on Wednesday (22nd February).
