The 'Never Close Our Eyes' singer recalls a meeting with the School Of Rock actor on a plane journey.

Adam Lambert has confessed that he would be more than happy to take Jack Black on in a "rock off" competition after he recalled a conversation the pair shared on a plane journey to Los Angeles earlier this year.

The 'Trespassing' singer told Capitalfm.com that the artists exchanged words during the week where their albums were going head to head to on the iTunes chart in the US.

He confessed: "We were on a plane flight, and this was the same week that my album came out in the States and his album [with] Tenacious D came out the same week as well.

"And we were kind of battling for top positions on iTunes and he looked at me from across the aisle and said 'Lambert!' It was so funny, he was like 'Where are you going? On a tour?' And I was like 'No, I'm just going to do promo' and he said 'very interesting'."

The singer continued: "When we got off the plane and landed back in LA he was walking in front of me and we were going down the escalator and I had my luggage and he had his luggage.

"He turns and goes 'Lambert' and I said 'Yeh?', and he goes 'I challenge you to a rock off'. And he looks up and right above him was a tourism picture of the Hollywood Bowl, and he looks up and goes 'At the bowl of Hollywood'.

"I don't think he was being really serious," he added.

However, the former American Idol star admitted he would be up for taking the challenge if the chance ever came up.

"But listen, if he was for real  - I would definitely take him up on it," he admitted.

Meanwhile, Adam is currently one of the names in the running for one of the vacant positions on the judging panel of American idol after the departure of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

The star told Capital that he would "jump at the chance" if he was offered a role on the music reality series.

Tenacious D have also recently announced details of a new UK tour which will see them perform four shows this October.
