Soldiers from the 1st Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment marched through Yorkshire over the last few days for a series of homecoming parades.

Troops have paraded through Bradford this morning before marching in Leeds this afternoon.

Yesterday they paraded through East and North Yorkshire.

Tomorrow it’s off to York for another march then to York Minster for a special service to remember the soldiers that where killed fighting for our country.

In March, five soldiers from 3 Battalion, the Yorkshire Regiment, were killed when a bomb exploded under their vehicle in Helmand province.

Earlier this month the government announced they were cutting the the regiment's 2nd Battalion as part of defence cuts.

The Yorkshire Regiment currently consists of three full-time battalions.

The cuts mean the 2nd Battalion, will merge into the rest of regiment in autumn 2013.
