A 34 year old man is seriously ill in hospital after a shooting in the Chapeltown Area of Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police were called to Saville Street in Chapletown this evening (Monday) after reports of a shooting.
A 34 year old man has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary after he was shot in face. He is said to be seriously ill.
We have had unconfirmed reports that it was a drive-by shooting and extra police have been drafted into the area to reassure residents.
Police are also keen to point out that the shooting is not connected to any of the violence in London and reports of large gangs out on the streets of Chapletown this evening were false.
Last week police were called to the Saville Drive area of Chapeltown where a man had been shot in the foot.
